Personal Life:
Orthodontist, Air Force Officer, Clinical Director…these are some of the roles and titles Dr. Lee has held in his life, but the ones he is most proud of are certainly husband and father. Dr. Lee and his wife Shara have been married over 30 years. They are blessed with 5 adult children who are 2 years apart in age….wait a minute, how is that you may ask? The first four are quadruplets (3 sons and 1 daughter), and their youngest is a daughter. Another aspect to their family dynamic is that one of their sons has special needs. To their knowledge, Dr. Lee is the only orthodontist in the USA and perhaps the world who is a father of quadruplets. Dr. Lee and his wife have plenty of stories about parenting and marriage, some fun, some crazy, some disheartening, but both of them acknowledge that they could not have made it through each day without a faith and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is Dr. Lee’s hope and desire to apply biblical principles to how he treats patients, manages his staff and operates his practice.
Outside of the office, Dr. Lee primarily enjoys spending time with his wife and family. There have been countless baseball, softball and soccer games, spelling bees, etc.. But when there’s none of that to do, Dr. Lee enjoys woodworking, fixing cars, DIY house projects and hiking in the mountains…oh, and cheering on the Houston Astros!
Professional Life:
Dr. Lee has been a licensed dentist for 25 years and a specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics for 20 years. He has been a board certified orthodontist for 19 of those 20 years.
As mentioned above, besides private practice, he has served in numerous professional roles: serving our country in the Air Force during Operation Enduring Freedom following the 9/11 attacks, helping to educate the next generation of orthodontists and oral surgeons as a professor and clinical director, and serving a special population of patients on the Shriners Cleft Lip and Palate team. In addition to the complex nature of cleft patients, Dr. Lee has treated many complex jaw surgery patients with the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. While serving nearly 15 years as a faculty member at The University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, Dr. Lee participated in clinical teaching, lecturing to residents, and orthodontic research. Those research projects which resulted in publications can be seen under the "Publications" tab.
